Trax Ghana and the British School of Brussels Charity, “The Best of Both” partnership project, presented 120 goats to 40 selected needy students at Dachio, Zuarungu-Moshie, Duusi and Gaare-Gbani basic schools in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The project sought to develop longer-term, offspring security and income generation opportunities for the students and their families. With the existence of communally owned male goats, each scholarship beneficiary is provided with three female (nanny) goats for rearing.

Presentation of small ruminants (goats) to needy students at Duusi Junior High School
The small ruminants (goats) scheme replaces an initial scholarship support package of school uniform, exercise books, school bag, foot wear, pens, belt for boys and meal for attendance.
The rolling goats (offspring) can be sold for scholarship and other essential items. Manure production is currently the most important agricultural output from keeping goats especially in rural farming communities. The beneficiary households will apply the manure collected to their farms for organic crop and vegetable production.

The project beneficiaries and their Parents or guardians were earlier sensitized and trained to support the scheme by caring for the animals to improve goat productivity and income.
